WAEC Introduces Re-sit Policy for WASSCE Candidates In 2025
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled new policy that allows candidates to re-sit their West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers without waiting for the usual private exam cycle. This new set to begin in January 2025, aims to provide a faster pathway for students to improve their results.
An interview that was set on Ghana’s JoyNews AM Show, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, outlined the key details of the initiative, including registration and examination timelines.
“Students who have reviewed their results and need to re-sit one or two subjects can register online through our official website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés by 8th January,” Kapi explained.
The re-sit examinations, called WASSCE PC1, are scheduled to take place between 24th January and 15th February 2025.
This initiative is open to candidates who have failed subjects or whose results were canceled. However, candidates penalized for examination malpractice remain ineligible until their ban period is over.
This new policy marks a significant step forward in WAEC’s efforts to address the challenges faced by students striving to improve their academic performance. It provides a timely solution for those eager to meet their educational goals without enduring long delays.
WAEC encourages candidates to visit their official website for detailed instructions on registration and other guidelines.
With this change, WAEC reaffirms its dedication to expanding educational opportunities and supporting students across the West African region.
