Lagos Teacher Charged in Court Over Viral Video showing her physically assaulting a 3-year-old boy during a lesson.
The teacher, Stella Nwadigbo, 46, was arraigned on Thursday at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court. She is facing charges of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. The alleged incident took place at Christ Mitot School, Ikorodu, Lagos, on 7th of January 2025.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, the teacher was captured on camera slapping and punching the young boy while attempting to teach him how to write numerals.
The actions reportedly violate Sections 135 and 172 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
When the charges were read, Nwadigbo pleaded not guilty. Chief Magistrate Mrs. O. Kushanu granted her bail of ₦200,000, requiring two sureties of the same amount.
The case has been adjourned to February 18 for further mention.
