Vision for Youth Empowerment

Bafarawa’s resignation is rooted in his passion for creating opportunities for the younger generation. He emphasized:

“This decision, though deeply personal and difficult, is borne out of my commitment to a new chapter of service that aligns with my vision of uplifting humanity through empowering the youth.”

Acknowledging his time in the PDP, Bafarawa expressed gratitude for the platform’s role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape. However, he stressed the importance of stepping away to avoid potential conflicts of interest as he fully devotes himself to his youth-focused mission.

“My focus will now be solely on creating avenues for youth empowerment, fostering innovation, and promoting values that build a prosperous future for all,” he added.

Legacy of Leadership

Bafarawa served as the governor of Sokoto state from 1999 to 2007, playing a significant role in governance and political development during his tenure. Despite being a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, he indicated in a 2021 interview with Punch that his interest in active politics had waned.

At the time, he stated:

“I no longer have the will to be in active politics. I will never contest for any elective office or accept a political appointment.”

Gratitude and Hope for the PDP

While departing from the PDP, Bafarawa commended the party’s efforts in promoting democracy and good governance in Nigeria. He expressed his best wishes for its continued success.

“I remain grateful for the opportunities I have had to contribute to the party and its ideals. As I transition into this new phase of my life, I seek your understanding and wish the PDP continued success in its endeavours.”

Opening A New Chapter of Service

Bafarawa’s decision underscores his belief in the transformative potential of Nigeria’s youth. By dedicating his time to fostering innovation and building a sustainable future, he aims to inspire the next generation to take charge of their destiny and contribute meaningfully to national development.
