Suspect Confesses to Killing Corps Member in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Police Command has taken Timileyin Ajayi, a 32-year-old man, into custody for allegedly murdering and dismembering his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu, a 24-year-old corps member. The shocking crime, which has left the community reeling, occurred in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

Salome, who was serving in Abuja, reportedly visited Ajayi at his residence before her tragic death. Ajayi was apprehended on Sunday, January 12, while attempting to dispose of her severed head. During his arrest, police recovered a knife and machetes believed to have been used in the crime.

The Suspect’s Shocking Confession

Visibly injured from a mob attack prior to his arrest, Ajayi admitted to the killing during an interview with Channels Television. He claimed the act was unplanned and motivated by jealousy after discovering alleged infidelity.

“I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time. It’s not something I planned. It happened on that day and it happened. She was cheating,” Ajayi said.

Despite the gruesome nature of the crime, Ajayi expressed no remorse, stating:

“I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal. That is what I thought. If you must do something to someone, you have to be reciprocal with that person. We were actually compatible.”

The Victim’s Family Demands Justice

Salome’s family has strongly denied any knowledge of her relationship with Ajayi. Her elder sister, Esther Adaidu, expressed her heartbreak and demanded justice.

“This so-called Timi guy, we don’t know him. We have never seen him until we were called up to tell us that this guy murdered and dismembered our sister,” she said.

Her uncle, Samson Adaji Adaidu, provided harrowing details of the crime, alleging that the body was dismembered into over 50 pieces and packaged in polythene bags. He said:

“It looks as though he was preparing the body for consumption. The family demands justice for this horrifying act.”

Police Assure Justice

The Nasarawa State Police Command has promised a thorough investigation. SP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, assured the public that the suspect would face the full weight of the law if found guilty.

“Upon conclusion of the investigation, the suspect will be arraigned in court. We call on members of the public with any complaints against the suspect to come forward.”

Suspect’s Identity

The suspect never identified himself as a gospel singer, While some reports described Ajayi as a gospel singer, he identified himself as a cryptocurrency trader during his interview.

This gruesome incident has sparked widespread condemnation and renewed calls for vigilance and justice in cases of gender-based violence.
