JAMB Announces “The Lekki Headmaster” as 2025 UTME Reading Text
In preparation for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced The Lekki Headmaster by Kabir Alabi Garba as the new reading text for the Use of English paper.
When this update was shared via JAMB’s official Twitter account (@JAMBHQ) at 3:07 PM on Wednesday, urging prospective candidates to stay informed about the forthcoming registration details for both UTME and Direct Entry (DE) exams.

The newly selected novel replaces The Life Changer by Khadija Abubakar Jalli, which had been used in previous years. Candidates are encouraged to begin familiarizing themselves with the text as part of their examination preparation.
In a related development, JAMB addressed claims of financial mismanagement regarding meals, fumigation, and other expenses for 2024, dismissing them as baseless. During a session with the Senate and House Committees on Finance, the board clarified that their discussions focused solely on the 2025 budget proposal.
